£2,500 raised for West Berkshire Centre

Visitors to Newbury Racecourse's Lady's Day and Party in the Paddock on the 16th August raised just under £2,500 for the West Berkshire Centre.

After enjoying a day's racing and a live concert by Boyzone, visitors gave generously to our team of staff and volunteers armed with collecting buckets at the exit gates.

Many thanks to the management of Newbury Racecourse for their continuing support.

The Great British Duck Race - Adopt a Dingley Duck!I

Dingley is taking part in the 2008 Great British Duck Race, which takes place on Saturday 31st August on the River Thames near Hampton Court.

In 2007, the race hosted 165,000 plastic ducks and raised over £100,000 for UK charities. This year, the aim is to race over a quarter of a million ducks.

When you adopt a Dingley Duck, you have the chance to win a top prize of £10,000.

Dingley Family & Play Therapy Group in Reading are celebrating their 20th Anniversary this year!
We'd like you to join us on Monday the 21st July between 9am and 3pm for entertainment, food, drink and the official opening of our Sensory Garden (1pm).

Brunch will be served between 9am and 10.30am and lunch between 12noon and 1.30pm. There is no entry fee, we just want to share this special occasion with you.
Donations of course would be most welcome and will assist with our on-going support of children with complex needs and the families that represent them.

Paddling Pool
Giant Garden Games
Story Telling
Balloon Modelling
Sand and Water Play

We would advise Parents/Carers bring a suitable sun lotion for children of 30SPF or above and preferably water resistant for water play, please also remember sun hats, swimming suits and towels. Staff are not permitted to apply sun cream without prior written consent. (See our Parents Information Board located just outside the Playroom.)

Please note that whilst staff will be available on the day to assist and to facilitate activities, children will remain the responsibility of those that accompany them.

Summer Play Scheme

Due to popular demand for this service, Dingley Family & Play Therapy Group in Reading are extending the availability for this scheme.
We will now operate from 22nd July until the 3rd September.
Book now to secure your place - we're almost full for the first two weeks!
Charges are £3 per hour for the first child and £2 per hour for every other child in the family. Fees are negotiable.

READING HALF MARATHON RAISES £3,808 FOR WEST BERKSHIRE CENTRE

Andy Pickett, together with his daughter Siân and work colleague Jon Abbot, ran as a team for the West Berkshire Centre, raising £2,208 in sponsorship which, together with generous matched funding from Andy & Jon’s employer Whitbread plc and a donation from Siân’s employer Gartmore Investment Management, raised a grand total of £3,808. We are very grateful to these two companies for their support.

Neil Turner & his colleague Martin Sayers also ran for the West Berkshire Centre raising £820, which they have donated in memory of Neil’s daughter Louise, and her daughter Ellie who used to attend Dingley.

The money raised by our runners will be used to purchase specialist seating for the benefit of some of our less physically able children.

Tesco Computer for Schools and Sainsbury's Active Kids

Dingley Family & Play Therapy Group in Reading are collecting now!

We're a little late registering this year so we're appealing to you for help, we're not doing too badly so far but we can't bank AK08 Vouchers (Sainsbury's) in the same way we can with Tesco's.

If you have any vouchers and need somewhere to donate them to, we'd be very grateful.

We're hoping to collect enough Tesco vouchers to "purchase" a new PC for the Pre-School. This is with a view to supporting Parents/Carer's with their preparation to return to work following the transition that their children will make from Pre-School to Full Time School.

We would like to support with building CV's and general PC skills, making applications online, etc.

Online resources for Dingley families

One of Dingley's core roles is to provide information and 'signposting' for the families who attend. Much of the information that can assist with everyday issues experienced by families with children with additional needs is online.

Parents Network Meeting

Attendance at the Parents Network Meeting is an opportunity for all who access the services of Dingley Family & Play Therapy Group and the Dingley Specialist Children's Centre to discuss provisions, developments, complaints, compliments and other issues. Come along for Coffee and and share your views!

Crèche facilities are available (for free!) but spaces are limited and are allocated on a first come first served basis.
